Liz joined us in 2019 as a writer and project coordinator, applying her skills and 17 years of experience in conservation communications, community engagement, and ecology to The Halo Project, Predator Free Dunedin and drone seedpod trials.
Liz has a Master’s degree in Ecology from Otago (2001), and has worked for the Department of Conservation in Otago, Southland, and Northland in varied roles involving advocacy and collaborative work with landowners, iwi, community groups and NGOs.
Liz loves working on a range of innovative and sustainable biodiversity projects that Whirika is involved in. She continues working on trials for reforesting land with native seed pods dispersed via drones, as well as other biodiversity enhancement, restoration and monitoring projects.
